Jakarta, VIVA – Eid homecoming is an annual tradition where millions of people travel from major cities back to their hometowns to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families.
This mass movement causes a surge in transportation demand, leading to traffic congestion, packed airports, and overcrowded ports.
To ease the journey, the government and various institutions, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), often provide additional transportation options and security measures.
Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto has implemented a standby force and provided emergency transport for Eid al-Fitr 2025.
This initiative aims to assist the public in case of natural disasters.
"TNI has prepared 66,700 personnel to support the National Police. Additionally, TNI has also prepared a standby force in case of natural disasters," Subiyanto said on Monday (March 31).

To facilitate homecoming travel, TNI has arranged various transportation options, including aircraft and Indonesian Navy ships (KRI).
"We were not only deploying personnel. TNI has also prepared nine transport aircraft, including Hercules, CN, and Casa, ready to assist people traveling for Eid. Additionally, four KRI ships have already been deployed and were used for homecoming trips from Jakarta to Semarang and Surabaya," Subiyanto stated.
Furthermore, he mentioned that these transportation services would also be available for travelers returning from their hometowns.
"These will also be used for people returning after Eid," he added.
