Jakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, expressed his understanding of the government’s purpose in implementing budget efficiency measures, particularly in light of the numerous ambitious programs introduced by the Prabowo-Gibran administration.
As known, initiatives such as the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG), the Free Health Check-Up Program, and the Affordable Housing Program (targeting the construction of 3 million houses) were highlighted.
During a meeting with Kadin Indonesia officials, which was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono and Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) Febrio Kacaribu, the discussion on budget efficiency became a key topic.

While acknowledging that efficiency efforts often require sacrifices, Bakrie described the government’s approach as visionary, particularly for prioritizing long-term investments in developing Indonesia’s human capital.
“Obviously, we need to understand why efficiency is being implemented. Efficiency is never pleasant, but it’s necessary,” Bakrie said on Friday (Feb 14).
He continued, “Especially when the funds are reallocated toward something long-term, like human capital. Our demographic bonus is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Bakrie also expressed his hope that all Kadin Indonesia officials would align with the government’s objectives and identify opportunities for collaboration with the private sector.
“This is what the government is trying to achieve—how to enable long-term investment. Because it’s hard for us to compete globally if Indonesians aren’t well-nourished, healthy, or intellectually capable,” Bakrie concluded.
