Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) has expressed its readiness to host both international multi-sport and single-sport events, ranging from regional to global scale.
This is a demonstration of Indonesia's seriousness in actively contributing to the development of international sports.
Indonesia has already successfully hosted various multi-sport and single-sport international events, starting with the 2008 Asian Beach Games, four editions of the SEA Games (1979, 1987, 1997, and 2011), as well as the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games.
"We at NOC Indonesia are always ready to host multi-sport events, both in Asia and globally. The government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and regional governments, wants Indonesia to become a venue for international sporting events," said Raja Sapta Oktohari, Chairman of NOC Indonesia.
He added, "Especially since we have successfully hosted the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games. Indonesia is fully prepared to host events on both the Asian and global stages."
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) believes that Indonesia has the capability to host world-class multi-sport events.
This was expressed by Director General Captain Husain Al-Mussalam and OCA Deputy Director General Vinod Kumar Tiwari in Kuwait.
The positive response was a result of Indonesia's success in hosting various international multi-sport events, such as the 1st Asian Beach Games in 2008, the 26th SEA Games in Palembang in 2011, the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in 2013, and most recently, the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games.
In addition to hosting multi-sport events, Oktohari also encourages national sports federations to actively bid for single-sport events.
One is Indonesia's preparation to host the 2030 World Aquatics Championships.
"We're in trilateral communication with President of World Aquatics Captain Hussein Al-Musallam and Chairman of Indonesia's Aquatics Federation Anindya Bakrie, where we agreed that Indonesia is ready to host the 2030 World Aquatics Championships, which will be attended by around 200 countries," Oktohari stated.
In 2025, Indonesia has already been designated to host several international single-sport events, such as the FIG Gymnastics World Championships, Asian Fencing Championships, Asian Cadet and Junior Judo Championships, and the Asian Cup Woodball Championships.
Oktohari added that Indonesia is also working hard to bid for the 2030 Youth Olympic Games and the 2036 Olympic Games. Additionally, Indonesia is vying for the opportunity to host the 2031 Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games (AIMAG).
"This is part of our ongoing sports diplomacy that we are optimizing with NOC Indonesia. So far, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has welcomed Indonesia's desire to host Asian international events, as we have proven ourselves in 2018. This also strengthens our relationship with other NOCs in the Asian region," he concluded.
