Prabowo: General Rank Symbolizes Willingness to Sacrifice for Nation

Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the rank of general held by high-ranking officers in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) is not merely an honorary title but a significant mandate from the people.

The head of state reminded that generals must be at the forefront of making sacrifices for the nation.

"The rank you wear, the stars on your shoulders, signify an honor bestowed by the people," he said during the 2025 TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting held in Jakarta on Thursday (Jan 30).

According to Prabowo Subianto, the rank given to generals carries the meaning of a willingness to sacrifice without hesitation.

"If you dare to wear the rank of general, it means you must be the first to have the courage to give your life for the sake of the nation and the country. That is the true meaning of the rank bestowed upon you," he remarked.

On the same occasion, the President expressed his appreciation to TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, regional police chiefs, as well as all officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted personnel of the TNI and Polri for their dedication in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and security.

The 2025 TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting carried the theme "TNI-Polri Synergy in Supporting the Realization of Astacita."

During the event, the President was accompanied by several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

In his report to the President, the National Police Chief outlined various achievements of the TNI-Polri throughout 2024 and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting Astacita and the government's priority programs.
