Kadin Chairman and South Africa's President Discussed G20 Priorities at WEF

Switzerland, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, held a discussion with South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa regarding preparations for the G20 Summit, which will be held in Johannesburg in November 2025.

The talks took place during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

Bakrie acknowledged that this was the right moment, as Matamela Cyril is the G20 Chair and the host of the upcoming summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

"We discussed preparations for the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, which will be held in November 2025," Bakrie said in a statement. 

Their discussion also focused on issues of solidarity, equality, and sustainable development, which will be the themes of the G20 Summit in South Africa.

"For the first time in history, the G20 Summit will be held in Africa. This is a very special moment for all of us, especially for South Africa," he remarked.

As information, Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa has been the President of South Africa since 2018.

Before becoming President, Cyril Ramaphosa served as President of the African National Congress (ANC).

He is also known as an anti-apartheid activist, trade union leader, and businessman.

Additionally, Cyril Ramaphosa was the Secretary-General of the ANC during Nelson Mandela's era (1991-1997) and served as Vice President during President Jacob Zuma's administration (2014-2018).

Cyril Ramaphosa is often referred to as a skilled negotiator and strategist with powerful oratory skills. In his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, Ramaphosa shared a touching phrase about collaboration.

He stated that to address global challenges such as poverty, war, and climate change, world leaders must return to utilizing the most powerful and enduring human attribute, such as cooperation and mutually beneficial collaboration.

"Cooperation is the foundation of human civilization. Without cooperation and collaboration among individuals, groups, societies around the world, countries, and humanity, we will not progress," Ramaphosa stated.
