"This terminal is part of a major plan to enhance the service ecosystem for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims," Fahmi said on Thursday (Jan 23).

Furthermore, this dedicated terminal aims to reduce congestion at the land side of Terminal 3, considering that the number of Umrah passengers currently reaches 10,000 per day.

"There is a need for better traffic management to serve the approximately 10,000 Umrah pilgrims per day at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Currently, Umrah pilgrims depart from Terminal 3, which does not provide complete facilities for them," he remarked.

Angkasa Pura Indonesia (API) or InJourney Airports has also provided a special design for Terminal 2F, which includes basic facilities to support a more focused and meaningful pilgrimage journey for all pilgrims.

The facilities at Terminal 2F will include a mosque covering around 3,000 square meters, a lounge, a manasik (pilgrimage practice) area, a food court, and various other amenities to support the pilgrims' journey.

In addition, there will be meeting areas for pilgrims to connect with their families, both at the departure and arrival areas.

"Terminal 2F has been specially designed so that Hajj and Umrah pilgrims can experience a better, more comfortable, and more focused atmosphere during their worship," Fahmi stated.

In line with this, direct flights to Saudi Arabia will be operated from Terminal 2F.

"For Umrah pilgrims traveling on indirect flights to Saudi Arabia, their departure will also be handled through Terminal 2F," he concluded.
