In response, Akhmad Ma'ruf Maulana, Vice Chairman for Special Economic Zones (SEZ), Industrial Zones (IZ), and National Strategic Projects (PSN) at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), welcomed Singapore’s investment commitment in green energy development in Indonesia.

This commitment was conveyed during a meeting between Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong, and Indonesia’s Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan P. Roeslani, as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Monday.

"Indonesia has been supplying solar power to Singapore. Through this clean energy supply, Singapore benefits from carbon credits and green energy certifications to support its green economy," Maulana stated on Monday (Jan 20).

Kadin Received Direct Guidance from President for Economic Advancement

"However, on the other hand, their contribution to developing green industries in Indonesia remains minimal. We hope Singapore understands Indonesia's need to advance its green energy sector," he added.

Maulana explained that Kadin Indonesia, along with industrial zone operators, would offer a series of attractive incentives. Singapore would be granted benefits such as a five-year land lease waiver in industrial zones like PSN Wiraraja, Gesip Galang, and several others.

"This relaxation is provided by Industrial Zone (IZ) operators under the umbrella of Kadin Indonesia, in addition to the tax holidays from the Indonesian government," he remarked.

Maulana emphasized the importance of a fairer and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries, particularly in supporting the growth of Indonesia’s green economy.

He described this initiative as a proactive step by Indonesia to encourage balanced cooperation and create a conducive investment ecosystem.

Furthermore, Maulana highlighted that Indonesia's solar power supply to Singapore gives the impression that Singapore is merely exploiting Indonesia’s clean energy.

"We hope Singapore not only utilizes Indonesia’s clean energy but also actively invests in supporting economic growth and sustainability in the region. We strongly support the efforts of Minister Rosan P. Roeslani in Davos yesterday," Maulana concluded
