President Prabowo Starts Office at IKN on Independence Day 2028

Jakarta, VIVA – The Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, stated that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to begin working from the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) on Independence Day or August 17, 2028.
He mentioned that President Prabowo would provide directives for carrying out executive, legislative, and judicial activities in 2028.
"The President of Indonesia (Prabowo) has given instructions to implement executive, legislative, and judicial activities in Nusantara Capital City in 2028," Hadimuljono said on Saturday (Jan 18).
Hadimuljono added that the IKN Authority has already prepared the infrastructure and facilities in IKN. Road construction will begin in January 2025.
"We have prepared the infrastructure and facilities in the Nusantara Capital City. Starting January 2025, we will map out locations to begin road construction," he remarked.
Previously, the Head of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, stated that the government would move to IKN, East Kalimantan, once the new capital could serve as the political capital. It is estimated that this will occur in 2028.

"The President said that the government would relocate to IKN once it can function as the political capital, meaning there are executive, legislative, and judicial offices there," he said some time ago.
Nasbi emphasized that the development of IKN is ongoing. He revealed that if there are no obstacles, this could happen by 2028 or 2029.
"If there are no obstacles, by 2028, or at the latest 2029, IKN will be able to serve as the political capital," he remarked.
