Moreover, the Palestinian people have suffered greatly, with countless lives lost due to the Israeli aggression that lasted nearly 500 days since October 7, 2023.

For this reason, Indonesia emphasized the importance of both parties committing to their respective agreements so that nothing hinders the implementation of this ceasefire, he said.

“Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a new future for peace in the Middle East,” he remarked.

The minister also expressed hope that this ceasefire would provide a good starting point for achieving a two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in accordance with international agreements.

“We firmly believe that permanent peace will ultimately be achieved if the two-state solution is realized,” he added.

The announcement of the ceasefire to halt Israeli aggression in Gaza was made by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha on Wednesday (Jan 15).

The ceasefire reportedly includes the release of hostages and prisoner exchanges, cessation of hostilities, security guarantees for Israel, and ample humanitarian aid entering Gaza.

Al Thani stated that the ceasefire agreement, expected to end Israeli aggression and genocide that have devastated Gaza, consists of three phases and will take effect on Sunday, January 19.
