Jakarta, VIVA – Pertamina Patra Niaga has begun the gradual distribution of B40 fuel, following the government's decision through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding the distribution policy for Biosolar.
Previously containing 35 percent FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) or known as B35, the content has now been increased to 40 percent, referred to as B40.
Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Heppy Wulansari, explained that under ESDM Ministerial Decree No. 345.K/EK.01/MEM.E/2024 dated December 30, 2024, 24 Biofuel Business Entities (BUBBN) have been appointed by the government as FAME suppliers.
Additionally, 28 Fuel Business Entities are required to blend biofuel into their gasoil products or sell B40, including Pertamina through its subsidiary, Pertamina Patra Niaga.
"Up to
now, Pertamina Patra Niaga has received FAME from Biofuel Business Entities at 34 delivery points, or approximately 80% of the targeted B40 delivery points," Wulansari said on Friday (January 17).
She explained that the received FAME is processed directly at Fuel Terminals and distributed to gas stations (SPBU) in stages.
"This process started in the first week of January 2025," she remarked.
The distribution of B40 is expected to reduce Indonesia's dependence on fossil fuels while supporting the government’s efforts to lower carbon emissions.
