Jakarta, VIVA – Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) successfully recorded an increase in air passenger numbers and cargo transport volumes across 37 airports throughout 2024.

President Director of InJourney Airports, Faik Fahmi, stated that during the January-December 2024 period, the number of air passenger movements at 37 InJourney airports reached 155.9 million people, consisting of 118.03 million domestic passengers and 37.90 million international passengers.

"This figure represents an increase of approximately 4 percent compared to the January-December 2023 period, which recorded 150.1 million passengers," Fahmi said on Monday (Jan 13).

He added that aircraft movements declined by 4 percent, from 1.21 million flights in 2023 to 1.16 million flights in 2024.

The rise in passenger numbers amidst a decline in flight movements indicates that InJourney Airports, together with airlines, have successfully optimized flight slot times at the airports and boosted passenger load factors to high levels.

Fahmi explained that the increase in passenger numbers was driven by strong collaboration within the aviation ecosystem to maintain a positive trend in the post-pandemic aviation market.

"InJourney Airports served 155.9 million passengers in 2024 thanks to close collaboration with all stakeholders," he stated.

In total, InJourney Airports served around 200 flight routes in 2024, with a composition of 60 percent domestic routes and 40 percent international routes.

“Growth in both domestic and international routes was excellent and aligned last year, in line with the government's policy of designating 17 international airports since April 2024. Of these 17 international airports, 16 are managed by InJourney Airports. This policy enables the hub-and-spoke concept to function effectively,” he explained.

For reference, the five busiest airports based on passenger movements last year were Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang (54.8 million passengers), I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali (23.9 million passengers), Juanda Airport in Surabaya (14 million passengers), Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar (9.6 million passengers), and Kualanamu Airport in Deli Serdang (7.1 million passengers).
