LRT Jabodebek Records Over 21 Million Passengers in 2024

Jakarta, VIVA – The LRT Jabodebek, a light rail transit system serving the Greater Jakarta area, has achieved a significant milestone in 2024 by transporting over 21 million passengers.
The exact figure stands at 21,055,870 passengers, representing a substantial increase compared to the previous year.
The rail service even set a new daily record on November 26, 2024, by serving 94,172 passengers in a single day.
According to Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the average daily ridership on weekdays reached 70,483 passengers, more than double the 35,226 passengers per weekday in 2023.
Meanwhile, on weekends, the average ridership was 33,089 passengers, a 20% increase from the previous year's 27,490 passengers.
Executive Vice President of LRT Jabodebek, Mochamad Purnomosidi, expressed gratitude for the public's trust in the service, as evidenced by the increasing number of daily passengers.
"LRT Jabodebek remains committed to making improvements and enhancements in various operational aspects, including optimizing schedules and improving maintenance systems to provide the best possible service to the public," said Purnomosidi on Thursday (Jan 9).
Dukuh Atas BNI station emerged as the busiest station with the highest number of tap-ins throughout the year, recording 3,414,963 users.
Harjamukti and Kuningan stations followed with 2,428,793 and 1,955,512 users, respectively. For tap-outs, Dukuh Atas BNI also maintained its lead with 3,159,006 users, followed by Harjamukti (2,511,130) and Kuningan (1,915,684).
LRT Jabodebek also succeeded in improving its on-time performance from 80.60% in 2023 to 97.23% in 2024. The total number of operated trips also surged from 22,492 in 2023 to 110,464 in 2024.
Several new policies implemented in 2024 contributed to these achievements, including:
• A fare of IDR 1 during the inauguration of the President and Vice President (October 20, 2024), serving 61,199 passengers.
• The addition of women-only carriages at the rear of trains for increased comfort.
• Permission to bring non-folding bicycles on weekends to support a healthy lifestyle.
"KAI is committed to continuously optimizing services and innovations in 2025 to provide safe, comfortable, and efficient travel experiences for all users," Purnomosidi stated.
