China Congratulates Indonesia on Becoming a Full BRICS Member

Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesia officially became the tenth full member of the international group of emerging economies, BRICS, on Monday (Jan 6).
This positive development was welcomed by the Chinese government through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which expressed its congratulations on Indonesia's accession to BRICS membership.
According to China, Indonesia is considered a developing nation with a significant role on the global stage.
"China warmly welcomes and congratulates Indonesia on becoming a full member of BRICS. Indonesia, as a major developing country and an important power in the Global South, greatly values the spirit of BRICS and has actively participated in BRICS Plus cooperation," said a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an official statement.
"Indonesia’s official entry into BRICS serves the common interests of BRICS nations and the Global South. We are confident that Indonesia will make an active contribution to the development of BRICS," the spokesperson added.
China emphasized that BRICS serves as a key platform to promote solidarity and cooperation within the Global South and plays a crucial role in driving reforms in the global governance system.
The BRICS countries are committed to multilateralism, justice, equality, and shared development.
"The recent expansion of BRICS membership aligns with the historic trend of the collective rise of the Global South. China is ready to collaborate with Indonesia and other BRICS members to jointly build a more comprehensive, close-knit, practical, and inclusive partnership, advance high-quality BRICS cooperation, and make greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for humanity," the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson stated.
