"The President's perspective on health is not just about treating the sick. Promotive and preventive efforts are far more important than curative measures," Prayudi said on Friday (Jan 3).

This initiative is the head of state’s effort to reduce risks, detect diseases early, and prevent unnecessary and avoidable deaths.

The program will be implemented gradually starting in 2025, with a target of reaching 60 million people. Over the next five years, the goal is to serve 200 million citizens under this program.

"President Prabowo fully understands that Article 28H of the 1945 Constitution guarantees every Indonesian citizen's right to health and access to healthcare services. Meanwhile, Article 34 of the Constitution obliges the state to fulfill these rights," he stated.

He also explained that the Free Health Check-Up Program will not only cover cardiovascular diseases but also various other illnesses categorized by age groups.

For toddlers, health checks will focus on detecting congenital diseases such as congenital hypothyroidism.
