Indonesia to Offer Low-Interest Loans for Migrant Workers
- Arabian Business.
Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhaimin Iskandar announced that the government will provide a special loan program for migrant workers who are about to depart for overseas employment.
"We will create a special loan program for overseas workers, Indonesian migrant workers who are going abroad," minister Iskandar said on Friday (January 3).
Minister Iskandar explained that the loan can be used by migrant workers to cover the costs of their departure tickets, training, and document processing.
"Indonesian migrant workers who need funds for training, cost structure, tickets, departure, and documents will be provided with loans," he remarked.
The minister assured that the loan program for migrant workers will be offered with a low-interest rate.
He said that the program will be modeled after the People's Business Credit (KUR), where loans are provided from government funds.
"We will provide loans with very low interest rates. In essence, we want to increase access to capital with low interest rates," he concluded.
