LRT Jabodebek Records 132 Percent Surge in Passengers on New Year's Eve

Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesia’s railway operator, Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), reported that the LRT Jabodebek served a total of 156,490 passengers on New Year's Eve.
This figure marks a 132 percent increase compared to the same period last year, which saw 67,280 users.
KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Anne Purba, stated that this rise in passenger numbers reflects the growing public trust in the LRT Jabodebek.
“This number highlights the vital role of the LRT Jabodebek in providing a safe, integrated, and modern mode of transportation, particularly during special moments like New Year’s celebrations,” Purba said on Friday (January 3).
On December 31, 2024, the Jabodebek LRT served 92,682 passengers traveling to various celebration venues.
The following day on January 1, 63,808 people utilized the service for their New Year’s Day journeys.
Stations with high connectivity were particularly popular during this period.
For instance, Dukuh Atas BNI Station, which connects to the Commuter Line, Airport Train, MRT Jakarta, and Transjakarta, recorded 33,831 tap-ins and 35,404 tap-outs.
Its location at the heart of community activities makes it one of the busiest stations.

Meanwhile, Cikoko Station, integrated with the Commuter Line and Transjakarta, served 13,312 tap-ins and 12,724 tap-outs.
Additionally, many passengers opted for the Jabodebek LRT as a transit option to and from Halim Whoosh Station.
The Halim LRT Jabodebek Station, connected to the Whoosh service, saw 2,956 tap-ins and 1,984 tap-outs.
“The integration of transportation modes at these stations has driven the surge in LRT Jabodebek users. Connectivity with other modes of transportation, such as the Commuter Line, MRT Jakarta, Airport Train, Transjakarta, and the high-speed Whoosh train, has made travel more convenient. This not only enhances passenger comfort but also expands the reach of the Jabodebek LRT as part of an interconnected transportation system,” Purba explained.
To provide optimal service during New Year’s Eve, the LRT Jabodebek extended its operational hours until midnight.
This initiative allowed the public to enjoy their celebrations peacefully while maintaining access to safe transportation.
With this significant increase in users, KAI remains optimistic that the Jabodebek LRT will continue to play a crucial role in facilitating public mobility.
