Prabowo Raises Purchase Price for Rice and Corn

Jakarta, VIVA – Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has raised the Government Purchase Price (HPP) for unhusked rice and corn.
The price of unhusked rice has increased from IDR 6,000 to IDR 6,500 per kilogram, while the price of corn rose from IDR 5,000 to IDR 5,500 per kilogram.
The minister stated that the increase in HPP for rice and corn reflects the government’s strategic policy to support farmers’ welfare.

“We're truly delighted and extend our highest gratitude on behalf of Indonesian farmers. The price of rice has now been raised from IDR 6,000 to IDR 6,500 per kilogram, while the HPP for corn has risen from IDR 5,000 to IDR 5,500 per kilogram,” said Minister Sulaiman in his statement on Monday (Dec 30).
“This policy is a tangible manifestation of the President’s commitment to the welfare of Indonesian farmers,” he emphasized.
In addition to adjusting the HPP, the President has also ensured increased budgetary support for the agricultural sector.
The quota for subsidized fertilizers has been doubled, with a total fertilizer budget reaching IDR 46.8 trillion.
Furthermore, the irrigation system budget has received special attention with an allocation of IDR 12 trillion.
The minister added that the total budget for the Ministry of Agriculture’s Land Optimization Program (Oplah) amounts to IDR 13 trillion.
The Oplah program aims to achieve food self-sufficiency by optimizing the potential of swamp and dry land.
According to him, this program not only involves the Ministry of Agriculture but also collaborates with the military (TNI), the Ministry of Villages, and other relevant stakeholders.
Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget allocation has significantly increased this year, from IDR 14.5 trillion to IDR 29 trillion.
This increase is expected to accelerate the implementation of various strategic programs, including pump irrigation systems, the development of new rice fields, and the provision of agricultural machinery (Alsintan) across Indonesia.
“With these farmer-focused initiatives, we are optimistic that we can achieve food self-sufficiency and improve the welfare of farmers throughout Indonesia as quickly as possible,” the minister concluded.
