Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has offered an opportunity and amnesty to corrupt individuals, provided they return the stolen state funds.
The head of state stated that this opportunity would be available in the coming weeks and months, without specifying an exact timeframe.
“I'm giving an opportunity for repentance. To those corrupt individuals or anyone who has stolen from the people, if you return what you have stolen, perhaps we can forgive you. But return it. We will provide a way for you to return it,” the President said at the Al-Azhar Conference Center, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday (Dec 18).
President Prabowo further explained that the process of returning the stolen funds could be done discreetly to avoid public exposure.
For the President, this method is acceptable as long as the corrupt individuals repent and return their stolen assets to the state.
On the same occasion, President Prabowo also reminded all state officials to obey the law and fulfill their obligations to the nation and the country.
“You, who have received facilities from the state, pay your obligations. As long as you fulfill your duties and obey the law, we can move forward together,” the President stated.
Additionally, the head of state warned officials to remain loyal only to the nation, the state, and the Indonesian people.
“If you're loyal to the people, let’s move forward together. If not, believe me, I will clean up the apparatus of Indonesia,” he concluded.
