Prabowo Highlights Indonesia's Inflation Control Success

Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto expressed high appreciation for the inflation control mechanism, which he considered a major innovation in the management of the national economy.
In his remarks at the 2024 Inflation Control Coordination Meeting held Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, on Monday (December 9), he highlighted the importance of this approach.
The head of state has requested the Home Affairs Ministry to continue the 2024 inflation control mechanism, as it has proven successful in national economic governance.
"I urge the Home Affairs Ministry to continue this mechanism. I believe this (mechanism) will one day serve as a case study for many countries," he remarked.
He further emphasized that the key to controlling inflation in the future is food self-sufficiency, both at the national and regional levels.

To that end, the president called for the realization of food self-sufficiency down to the district and sub-district levels, in line with the nation’s local wisdom.
"The key is self-sufficiency—food self-sufficiency in a broad and comprehensive sense. For a long time, each village used to have a food barn. This has become our strategy," President Prabowo pointed out.
Highlighting a significant economic achievement, the president praised the nation's success in keeping inflation below three percent, which was especially impressive given global uncertainty.
He noted that this success demonstrates Indonesia's resilience in challenging times.
"I am grateful that our current inflation is below three percent. This is quite an achievement," he said.
President Prabowo expressed his optimism that Indonesia can continue to face both economic and global challenges.
The head of state also called on all parties, especially ministries and regional governments, to continue innovating in efforts to control inflation.
"Continue to control it. We are grateful that inflation is under control, but we must keep maintaining it. However, the key is production. We should be responsive and responsible. I believe we can overcome this," he stated.
