KPK Urges Indonesians to Buy Auctioned Corruption Assets

Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is auctioning off luxury items resulted from corrupt officials, including luxury cars, motorcycles, branded bags, and jewelry.

KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika urged Indonesian citizens to participate in purchasing the auctioned items.

According to her, by buying these auctioned goods, citizens are indirectly contributing to the recovery funds that will be returned to the state.

"Indirectly, those who purchase items from the KPK auction are helping with asset recovery. I believe this is a positive act, especially for those who want to support the country," Mahardhika said on Monday (Dec 9).

For this reason, the KPK is calling on all Indonesians to take part. "If these items are purchased, the proceeds will go back to the state, not to private individuals or the original owners of the auctioned goods. Instead, it will be part of the effort to recover state losses," Mahardhika explained.

A total of 13 cases have assets slated for auction by the KPK, including cases involving officials from the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, such as Rafael Alun Trisambodo, and the former Head of Customs and Excise in Yogyakarta, Eko Darmanto.

"There are 13 cases, including the case of Karen (related to Pertamina LNG corruption), as well as those involving Abdul Latif, Eko Darmanto, Rafael Alun, Lenhard, Mukhtar Effendi, Priyo Andi Gularso, Rahmat Effendi, Riki Hampagawa, Beni Arianto, and Edi Rahman," said KPK Execution Prosecutor Syarkiyah on Thursday (Dec 5).

As information, the auctioned items include properties, vehicles, and luxury bags from various high-end brands.
