Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto welcomed a delegation of 20 Japanese entrepreneurs from the Japan-Indonesia Association at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (Dec 5).
During the meeting, President Prabowo invited Japan to participate in several strategic projects in Indonesia, including the Great Giant Sea Wall.
"The discussion was very productive. There were several other suggestions, and the President also invited Japanese companies to participate, particularly in the Great Giant Sea Wall," said the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, at the Presidential Complex.
The minister emphasized the importance of Japanese companies' participation in investing in Indonesia, including the Great Giant Sea Wall project, which spans 40 to 600 kilometers across Jakarta.
"We hope for the involvement of these Japanese companies, particularly their construction firms, to participate. This was also conveyed by the President," Minister Roeslani stated.
Additionally, the minister mentioned that President Prabowo also invited Japan to establish schools or universities in Indonesia.
"Indonesia has already welcomed several universities from the United States and the United Kingdom, which will open their campuses here next year. We hope Japan will also participate, and their response has been very positive," the minister said.
As information, the discussion covered topics such as healthcare, education, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), not just economic or business sectors.
