Minister: American Investors Find Comfort Investing in Indonesia

Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto welcomed a delegation of American entrepreneurs from the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (Dec 3). These business leaders represent companies operating in ASEAN, including Indonesia.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, explained that 50 companies from various industries, such as healthcare, food, tourism, pharmaceuticals, and digitalization, were present at the meeting.

“They are very excited because many of them are already investing in Indonesia, and some are planning to invest in sectors like minerals, oil, and gas,” Minister Roeslani stated.

The US business delegation expressed a strong interest in increasing their investments in Indonesia, driven by their optimism and confidence in President Prabowo’s administration, which has shown a clear commitment to improving the country’s investment climate. This has reassured investors and made them feel secure.

"During the meeting, President Prabowo emphasized zero tolerance for corruption or any negative actions that could hinder investments. He assured strict enforcement of the rule of law, which provides a sense of security and protection for investors already in Indonesia,” the minister added.

Beyond regulations, the development of local human resources (HR) was highlighted as a key priority.

The minister highlighted the importance of investments that not only support economic growth but also facilitate technology transfer and enhance the skills of the Indonesian workforce.

“The expectation is that alongside their investments, they will also contribute to building and improving the capacity of our human resources, creating opportunities for technology transfer,” he remarked.

The minister further noted that President Prabowo provided clear responses to questions regarding the government’s commitment to fostering collaboration between foreign and domestic investors to drive sustainable economic growth.

“President Prabowo reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing the economic trajectory by safeguarding both existing and incoming investments and encouraging collaboration with domestic investors,” he concluded.
