Minister Seeks Additional IDR 505 Billion Budget for Food Affairs Ministry

Jakarta, VIVA – Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, proposed an additional budget of IDR 505 billion for his ministry, up from the initial IDR 44 billion allocation.
Minister Hasan noted that the requested amount is smaller than the additional budget proposed by the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar.
He highlighted that his ministry currently lacks essential facilities, including an office and official vehicles.
"We need IDR 505 billion for a new office, chairs, vehicles—none of these are in place yet. The office itself is still temporary, and the permanent one may only be completed by January," the minister said in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (December 2).

Minister Hasan explained that the additional budget includes IDR 269.9 billion for management support needs and IDR 230 billion for the coordination of policy implementation. He stated that the budget is essential to support the operations of the ministry's four deputy divisions.
"We have four deputy divisions. Naturally, this requires infrastructure and facilities. Additionally, we plan to set up a dashboard to oversee budget allocations in our sector. This will allow us to monitor progress effectively," he remarked.
He added that the food security budget for 2025 is projected to be IDR 139.4 trillion. This figure encompasses programs from various technical ministries related to agriculture, marine affairs, forestry, environmental management, and nutrition and food agencies.
"Our total budget is IDR 139.4 trillion, distributed across ministries. This includes IDR 16 trillion for village funds and IDR 12 trillion for irrigation," he explained.
The minister also announced plans to create a dashboard that would enable all stakeholders to monitor budget utilization.
"If everything proceeds as planned, next year we won’t need to import rice. If the programs under the ministries I coordinate run smoothly, we could also potentially eliminate the need to import corn next year. There’s no need to wait until 2027 if we can execute everything effectively," he concluded.
