London, VIVA – Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), announced that Kadin and the Indonesian government have the potential to secure financing for energy transition initiatives and affordable housing programs from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), UK.
"It’s an honor to return to the London Stock Exchange during President Prabowo's state visit to the UK. From the business sector, we aim to strengthen networks and capitalize on the strong relationship between Indonesia and the UK," Anindya stated, quoted on Thursday (11/21).
His remarks were made during the "Indonesia-UK Climate and Green Finance Breakfast at London Stock Exchange" on November 21. He emphasized that securing funding for both energy transition and real sector projects remains a priority, highlighting the role of the Global South in biodiversity, critical minerals, and renewable energy.
“We are advocating for financing flows from the Global North to the Global South. This region holds rich biodiversity, critical minerals, and renewable energy resources, making it crucial for green financing efforts,” Anindya explained.
Additionally, he highlighted Kadin's ongoing initiatives related to climate change and green finance, such as the Net Zero and Carbon Center of Excellence, as potential collaboration areas with LSEG. "This partnership could enable more companies, including state-owned and private enterprises, to access funding. Beyond traditional financing, mechanisms like bond credits are also on the table," he added.
The event, part of London Climate Action Week, was attended by notable figures including Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, Michael Sampoerna, and Indonesia’s Minister of Investment Rosan P. Roeslani. UK dignitaries such as Julia Hoggett, CEO of LSEG, and Alastair John Naisbitt King, Lord Mayor of London, also participated.
In a ceremonial moment, Anindya and other representatives joined UK officials to open the trading session at the London Stock Exchange.
LSEG, a global financial infrastructure leader, operates in over 70 countries, offering services such as capital formation, risk management, and investment solutions through platforms like FTSE Russell and Tradeweb.
