Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to promoting open, well-regulated, yet fair trade.
He made this statement during the Leaders' Retreat at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2024 held in Lima, Peru. According to Prabowo, APEC serves as a strategic platform to strengthen relationships between countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
“We were continuing a network among leaders in the Pacific. We discussed many issues, ensuring trade is conducted openly, fairly, and properly. I believe it’s a valuable opportunity,” the head of state said on Sunday (Nov 17).
The president also highlighted the importance of well-organized international trade. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s stance to consistently support orderly, open, and fair trade practices.
As one of the largest economies in the region, Indonesia remains committed to playing an active role in ensuring equality in global trade.
During the APEC Summit, President Prabowo held several bilateral meetings with other state leaders, discussing ways to strengthen trade relations, boost investments, and explore mutually beneficial new collaborations.
The APEC 2024 Summit in Lima also provided an important opportunity for Indonesia to advocate for inclusive trade that benefits not only major nations but also smaller and developing economies in the Asia-Pacific region.
