Jakarta, VIVA – The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police made another arrest on two suspects related to the online gambling case involving officers from the Ministry of Communication and Digital.

"We have successfully arrested two other perpetrators in the online gambling case involving officers from the Communication and Digital Ministry," the Director of Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Wira Satya Triputra, informed in a statement from his office on Sunday (Nov 10).

He explained that the two suspects with the initials MN and DM are currently en route to Indonesia and will arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at around 19:00 local time.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, confirmed the arrest and explained that the two had different roles.

"MN played a role in submitting the list of websites to the ministry, to avoid being blocked. meanwhile, DM received the gambling money in the case," he disclosed.

Indradi said MN is included in the wanted list (DPO) while DM is not on the list. However, he did not detail whether the two suspects were civilians or officers at the ministry.

The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has also named other two suspects in this particular online gambling case on the wanted list.

"Investigators had put A and M in the DPO list," Indradi stated on Wednesday (November 6).

According to him, the police are still conducting an intensive pursuit of A and M.

Earlier, the police had confiscated several evidence amounting to Rp73.7 billion (US$4,6 million) in cash in the online gambling case involving employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital.

"Investigators have confiscated IDR 73 billion in cash," Indradi informed on Thursday (November 8).

In this case, the police had named a total of 15 suspects with 11 people from the Ministry of Communication and Digital and four civilians.
