Jakarta, VIVA – Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has invited village heads across Indonesia, united under the Indonesian Village Government Association (APDESI), to help achieve Food Self-Sufficiency and support the Free Nutritious Meal program championed by President Prabowo Subianto.
"One way to accomplish this is through sustainable food production initiatives as a joint effort to strengthen food independence," Minister Sulaiman stated on Wednesday (Nov 11).
Additionally, the minister urged village heads to fully support the government’s efforts to realize food self-sufficiency as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"We need to establish modern agricultural clusters, and my target is for at least 1,000 villages to adopt this model in the future," Minister Sulaiman remarked.
According to him, the government is currently meeting various agricultural needs, from increasing the subsidized fertilizer quota to making mechanized technology widely accessible and preparing skilled human resources through universities and training programs.
"The government has doubled the fertilizer budget, thanks to the support of the President. Moreover, farmers no longer need special cards to obtain fertilizer—just their national ID. If anyone blocks this process, report them to the local police. The President has set a vision for food self-sufficiency, and we must achieve it," he concluded.
