Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto conveyed his congratulations to Donald Trump for his successful election bid as the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday (November 6).

As conveyed through his X account @prabowo as observed in Jakarta on Wednesday evening, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia and the United States as strategic partners that share a robust and multifaceted relationship.

"I look forward to collaborating closely with you and your administration to further enhance this partnership and for global peace and stability," the head of state said while mentioning Trump's X handle @realDonaldTrump.

He expressed belief that the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the US also continues to hold immense potential for mutual benefit.

President Prabowo's congratulatory remarks followed those of other Southeast Asian leaders, including Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim, Singaporean PM Lawrence Wong, and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., who earlier welcomed Trump's victory in the election.

Donald Trump has been declared the winner in the 2024 US Presidential Election by major news networks and survey agencies as most US states have completed their ballot-counting process.

As observed from the Associated Press (AP) data on November 7 Jakarta time, Trump garnered 293 electoral votes, crossing the 270 electoral vote threshold to win the election, as quoted from Antara site.

Trump, the Republican Party candidate, won against the incumbent Vice President and presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, who secured only 226 electoral votes.

The president-elect flipped several battleground states, such as Pennsylvania and Georgia, that Joe Biden had won in the 2020 election. Trump's victory in the election was sealed as the third state, Wisconsin, flipped to his favor.

AP data also indicated that Trump secured 50.9 percent of the popular votes against Harris, who had only 47.6 percent.
