The minister also invited several business owners to collaborate in building housing on this land to help low-income communities gain access to affordable housing.

“With humility, as a middle-level businessperson, not yet a conglomerate, I am taking the initiative as minister. On November 10, I will invite business owners, and I will contribute my 2.5 hectares of land in Tangerang,” he said in Jakarta on Monday.

He hopes that within the next eight months, hundreds of housing units at this location will be ready to hand over to the community.

“Hopefully, in eight months, we can hand over housing to hundreds of people there. I hope this becomes a model later, with perhaps 10 percent allocated for low-income members of the military, civil servants, and teachers,"

The minister further emphasized the importance of collaboration in public housing development, such as involving corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

He explained that various partnership models could be applied.

Collaboration to meet the 3 Million Homes target could be achieved with land provided by banks or private entities, while construction is handled by the government.

“The model can vary. Next time, for example, the land could be from the private sector, and we’ll handle the construction through the Ministry of Housing. We need to accommodate this flexibility,” he explained.

He stated that the housing development on the land he is contributing in Tangerang will be fully handled by private parties.

Once completed, these homes will be given free of charge to the community as part of an effort to promote equitable access to housing for low-income citizens.

“In the Tangerang model, the land is from the private sector, construction is handled by the private sector, and then it is handed over for free to the people,” he concluded.
