Jakarta, VIVA – The Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, revealed that B50 Biodiesel fuel is targeted to be realized by 2026.
Therefore, the minister stated that the government will reduce the palm oil export quota to meet domestic demand.
The minister mentioned that to produce fuel with 50 percent palm oil mixed with diesel, at least 5.3 million tons of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) will be needed.
The government is currently designing the production of B50.
"We're designing B50 first because we have enough resources. We only need 5.3 million tons of CPO," the minister said on Tuesday (Oct 22).
He then said that Indonesia already has the factories to produce B50, and the government only needs to increase their capacity.
The CPO supply for producing B50 will be sufficient.
"We produce 46 million tons of CPO. Right now, we use 20 million tons domestically. We export 26 million tons. If we take 5.3 million tons, it won't be a problem, right? Since we are exporting 26 million tons," he explained.
However, the minister said that to produce B50, the government will reduce the CPO export quota.
"We will reduce it according to domestic needs. We will prioritize domestic consumption," he explained.
Meanwhile, he mentioned that next year, the government will implement B40, or 40% palm oil mixed with diesel.
"Starting from January 2025, B40 will be implemented. Hopefully, it can be sooner," he concluded.
