How Hotel Renovations Are Boosting Yogyakarta's Tourism

Yogyakarta, VIVA – In July 2024, Yogyakarta's hotel occupancy rates showed a positive trend, reflecting the region's growing appeal as a tourist destination. Star-rated hotels (TPK) in the province recorded an occupancy rate of 63.25%, marking an increase of 2.68 percentage points compared to the previous month.
Non-star hotels also experienced growth, with a 27.57% occupancy rate, up 1.11 percentage points from June. The average length of stay for guests in star-rated hotels reached 1.54 nights, while non-star hotel guests averaged 1.17 nights, showing a stable preference for shorter stays in smaller accommodations.
In line with Yogyakarta's thriving tourism, several hotels are enhancing their facilities to cater to the evolving preferences of visitors.
One such example is the Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort & Spa, which recently completed significant renovations.
The newly refurbished Deluxe and Grand Deluxe rooms at the resort seamlessly blend modern sophistication with traditional Javanese design, offering guests an elegant yet culturally immersive experience.
The renovation emphasizes both comfort and heritage, with contemporary interior designs accented by subtle nods to Javanese culture. Guests can unwind in rooms with balconies offering stunning views of Mount Merapi or the tranquil surroundings of the Tamansari Water Castle pool.
For those seeking a more peaceful ambiance, the resort also provides rooms with views of a lush secret garden, reminiscent of a palace retreat.
"With the refreshed look of our Deluxe Rooms and Grand Deluxe Rooms, we hope to offer a distinct and more memorable stay experience for our guests," said I Gede Sujana, General Manager of Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort & Spa.
"We also hope that this new appearance will allow Sheraton Mustika to continue delivering exceptional experiences while staying attuned to our guests' evolving desires."
As tourism numbers rise, such efforts by hotels to modernize while preserving cultural authenticity are expected to play a key role in sustaining Yogyakarta’s appeal as a premier destination for both domestic and international travelers.
