Meet Mayor Teddy: from Prabowo's Bodyguard to Become Cabinet Secretary

Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto has chosen his bodyguard, Teddy Indra Wijaya, popularly known as Mayor Teddy, to serve as Cabinet Secretary in the Red and White Cabinet.
Born on April 14, 1989, Mayor Teddy is a Indonesian Army officer of Javanese-Minahasan descent, with a military background.
His father, Colonel Inf. (Ret.) Giyono, and mother, Major Caj (K) Patris R.A. Rumbayan, were both in the military.
Teddy's military career began in 2011 after graduating from the Military Academy in Magelang, a future training site for Prabowo’s ministers.
He has taken specialized military courses, including with Kopassus, and studied intelligence in Australia in 2015.
The mayor also attended various specialist schools in the U.S., such as the US Army Infantry School, Airborne School, and the prestigious Ranger School in 2020.
In 2019, he graduated as the International Honor Graduate from the US Army Infantry School, outperforming 185 students, including 171 American officers.
Teddy previously served as assistant adjutant to President Joko Widodo before becoming Prabowo’s personal bodyguard, always accompanying him on his travels.
He now taking on a new role as Cabinet Secretary, tasked with executing the President and Vice President's mission by providing high-quality management support to the cabinet.
His duties include giving accurate and secure recommendations, supporting effective and responsive cabinet operations, and improving administrative services, human resources, and facilities within the Cabinet Secretariat.
