This national event underscores the Indonesian government’s dedication to ensuring equal sports opportunities for all citizens.

Deputy for Sports Achievement at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Surono, highlighted that Peparnas 2024 is not only a sports event but also part of a broader campaign to raise awareness of the rights of athletes with disabilities.

One of the key reasons for choosing Solo as the host city, after initially considering North Sumatra, was its readiness in providing accessible venues.

Solo’s success in hosting the ASEAN Para Games 2022 further strengthened its candidacy. The city has over 20 disability-friendly sports venues, along with accessible accommodation.

According to National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia Secretary-General, Rima Ferdianto, athletes have expressed positive feedback on the event.

“They are thrilled to experience an international-level atmosphere in Solo, thanks to the government’s seriousness in ensuring their sports rights,” Rima said.

The Acting Mayor of Solo, Dhoni Widianto, noted three key aspects in the city’s preparations: accessible venues, accommodations, and community support.

“Solo isn’t just friendly in terms of facilities, but also in its warm reception from the people,” he remarked, emphasizing the city's enthusiasm.

Peparnas 2024 aims to foster inclusion and set a foundation for Indonesian athletes with disabilities to shine internationally, with a focus on the upcoming 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
