116 Indonesians Choose to Stay in Lebanon

Tangerang, VIVA – A total of 116 Indonesian citizens have chosen to remain in Lebanon despite the escalating conflict in the country.
Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, stated that hundreds of Indonesians choose to stay in Lebanon due to personal reasons.
"There are still 116 people who remain in Lebanon. The majority have chosen to stay there for personal reasons," he said at the International Arrivals Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, on Monday (Oct 7).
Nugraha urged Indonesian citizens still in Lebanon to stay safe and follow the guidance from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Beirut, Lebanon.
"For our citizens who are still in Lebanon, we encourage them to maintain their safety and follow the directions from KBRI Beirut to evacuate as soon as possible. We hope that our citizens make the decision to evacuate before the situation worsens," he remarked.
In total, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully evacuated 65 Indonesians from Lebanon since the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut declared a level one alert on August 4, 2024.
"We have successfully evacuated a total of 65 Indonesians from Lebanon since the KBRI Beirut declared a level one alert on August 4, 2024. We also express our gratitude to all parties and provinces involved in assisting this process," he concluded.
