Jakarta, VIVA – The government under President-elect Prabowo Subianto will establish a new ministry format, including the Ministry of State Revenue, as part of a restructuring of the Ministry of Finance.
This was announced by Burhanuddin Abdullah, an advisor to President-elect Prabowo Subianto. The purpose of this move is to support strategic programs under the upcoming Prabowo-Gibran administration.
“There will be a Ministry of State Revenue responsible for handling taxes, excise, and non-tax state revenue (PNBP), separating these responsibilities from the Ministry of Finance,” Abdullah said during the UOB Economic Outlook 2025 event in Jakarta on Wednesday (Sept 25).
He confirmed that this new ministry will merge the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC).
Moreover, Abdullah also emphasized the need for a transformation within the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), considering that Indonesia's BUMN value has now reached US$1 trillion. However, he stated that its contribution to the state still needs improvement moving forward.
He also highlighted that the planned changes to Ministries/Agencies intended for Prabowo's government will begin in January 2025.
“There must be institutional, business, cultural, and management transformations. So, we’ll likely start implementing these in January 2025,” he concluded.
