Jakarta, VIVA – Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita met with the newly elected Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, at the Ministry of Industry office on Thursday (Sept 19).
This meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening the synergy between the government and the business community, particularly in advancing the manufacturing industry sector in Indonesia.
“We congratulate Mr. Anindya Bakrie on his election as the new Chairman of Kadin Indonesia. We hope that the cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Kadin will continue to grow, especially in building the national manufacturing industry,” Minister Kartasasmita said in Jakarta.
They discussed plans for strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and Kadin Indonesia.
The minister expressed his hope that both parties could work together to formulate a five-year roadmap for the development of the manufacturing industry. This initiative is expected to provide a structured and focused foundation for industrial growth.
“In the near future, we will hold a follow-up meeting involving all industry associations under the Ministry of Industry to draft this roadmap,” he added.
The cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Kadin Indonesia has so far benefited the industrial sector, particularly in the development of downstream programs for minerals, natural gas, palm oil, cocoa, and coconut.
Looking ahead, the main focus of this collaboration will include strengthening domestic industries through local content policies (TKDN), the implementation of Indonesian National Standards (SNI), and enhancing the capacity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enter the automotive supply chain.
During the occasion, Anindya Bakrie expressed his gratitude for the Minister’s willingness to meet with the new Kadin leadership.
“We were grateful to the Minister for taking the time to receive us. We hope that moving forward, Kadin Indonesia and the Industry Ministry can continue to synergize in promoting industrial development in Indonesia,” he remarked.
The collaboration isn't only expected to cover the manufacturing industry roadmap but also touch on other key areas such as industrial human resource education and training, green industry development, empowerment of the halal industry, and protection of domestic industries.
All these efforts align with the National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) promoted by the government.
