- BMW Group Indonesia
Jakarta, VIVA – The automaker, BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke), has officially launched the BMW i5 Touring electric car. This vehicle marks the company's first step in introducing a touring model segment in Indonesia.
As known, the BMW 5 Series was originally known as a business sedan and has been one of the top-selling models for this German manufacturer. This success laid the base reason for BMW's decision to bring an electric-powered Touring version to the i5.
The BMW i5 Touring, an electric variant of the 5 Series, was introduced as a business sedan equipped with modern, environmentally friendly technology.
The vehicle is claimed to offer a balance between driving comfort, digital innovation, and sustainability.
Lars Nielsen, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia, stated that the BMW i5 Touring offers the latest digital features and a fully electric drivetrain.
"BMW Indonesia has launched the BMW i5 Touring, the first fully electric variant in this segment," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday (Sept 18).
The BMW i5 Touring is equipped with an 81.2 kWh battery, combined with an electric motor that produces a maximum power of 340 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm.
Its top speed is 193 km/h. This power configuration allows the BMW i5 Touring to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.
"Meanwhile, the interior combines luxury and sustainability. It features navigation, an entertainment system, and even integrated gaming," Nielsen explained.
The electric car is now available for pre-order for interested customers. It is priced at IDR 2.2 billion, off the road in Jakarta, and will be available in limited edition.
