Rabat, VIVA – The Indonesian House of Representatives is urging Islamic countries to unite in the current multipolar era.
Fadli Zon, Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), emphasized this step as a unified effort for the Muslim community to address various humanitarian, political, economic, and environmental crises faced by Muslims worldwide.
He's also a member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), represented the Asia-Pacific Group at the 52nd meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) held at the Moroccan Parliament in Rabat on September 10-11, 2024.
He called for PUIC member countries to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy to garner support through cooperation and collaboration in advocating for Palestinian independence, accelerating ceasefire efforts, and halting the barbaric acts of genocide committed by the Zionist Israeli regime.
"Islamic countries must unite and demonstrate tangible actions in support of the Palestinian cause. Mere condemnation isn't enough," he said.
He continued, "One concrete action that can be taken is to promote the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against products affiliated with supporting Israeli genocide in Palestine,"
Zon also expressed the DPR's readiness to host the 19th PUIC Conference.
Earlier, member countries unanimously hoped that the House of Representatives would agree to host the PUIC session, which is planned to be held in Jakarta in February 2025.
