"In today's digital era, our society can easily access information. Conventional media with editorial boards are being pushed aside, while social media and online media dominate, and anyone can become a journalist—citizen journalism—without the oversight of an editorial board," President Jokowi remarked while opening the 30th MTQ held in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Sunday (Sept 8).

Then he urged the public to be more cautious when receiving information from social media.

People need to double-check the accuracy of the information they receive through social media and online platforms.

"Therefore, every social media news reader must be able to act as their own editor, capable of filtering which news is good and which is not, and must check which is true and which is fake news," the president concluded.
