Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesia and three African countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the strategic industry sector at the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) Joint Leaders Session 2024.
Director of Africa, Directorate General of Asia, Pacific, and Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, stated that the three African countries involved are South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Senegal, with the total cooperation value reaching approximately IDR 2.7 trillion.
"The agreement involves two Indonesian state-owned enterprises, Pindad and Dirgantara Indonesia," said Meidiwaty in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 4).
Meidiwaty stated that the collaboration between Pindad and South Africa involves the company Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) for the supply of strategic industry products.
"This cooperation strengthened South Africa's position as the only African country with a strategic partnership with Indonesia," she remarked.
Meanwhile, Dirgantara Indonesia is strengthening its presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through the signing of an MoU for the procurement of CN235 aircraft by the DRC government.
Additionally, Dirgantara Indonesia agreed on the procurement of N219 aircraft for the DRC Ministry of Transportation.
"This move aligns with Indonesia's commitment to supporting conflict resolution efforts in the DRC, where Indonesia has been actively sending the Garuda Contingent as part of the MONUSCO peacekeeping mission," she emphasized.
In Senegal, Dirgantara Indonesia continues its collaboration with the Senegalese Air Force through a contract for the periodic inspection of aircraft.
Earlier, Senegal had purchased three CN-235 aircraft from Dirgantara Indonesia since 2011, which demonstrates Senegal's trust in the quality of Indonesia’s strategic industry products.
"This cooperation reflects Indonesia's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with African countries and enhancing the role of national strategic industries in the global market," she concluded
