List of Places Pope Francis to Visit during His Trip to Indonesia

Jakarta, VIVA – Pope Francis will visit several different locations during his trip to Indonesia, scheduled from September 3-6, 2024, there will be various activities, including a grand mass.
According to the itinerary released by the Cabinet Secretariat and the State Secretariat, here's the list of locations that the Leader of the Worldwide Catholic Church and Head of State of Vatican City will visit:
1. State Palace
Pope Francis will visit the State Palace on September 4, 2024. The Supreme Leader of the Roman Catholic Church will meet with Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at around 10 a.m. local time.
At the State Palace, Pope Francis will also meet with the Diplomatic Corps, civil society, community leaders, and officials. He will deliver a speech in front of the guests present there.
2. Vatican Embassy in Jakarta
After visiting the State Palace, Pope Francis will proceed to the Vatican Embassy, also known as the Apostolic Nunciature.
There, the Pope will meet with members of the Society of Jesus in Indonesia. This meeting is planned to take place around 11:30 a.m. local time.
3. Cathedral Church
After visiting the State Palace and the Vatican Embassy, Pope Francis is scheduled to be at the Church of the Assumption of Mary, also known as the Cathedral Church, in the afternoon.
At around 4:30 p.m. Pope Francis plans to meet with bishops, priests, deacons, nuns, seminarians, and catechists there.
Then, at 5:35 p.m., Pope will move slightly to the Youth Center Graha Pemuda, which is still within the Cathedral complex.
He will meet with the youth from Scholas Occurrentes. Scholas Occurrentes is an international organization operating on five continents through an extensive educational network.
4. Istiqlal Mosque
On Thursday (Sept 5), Pope will attend an Interreligious Meeting at Istiqlal Mosque. During this visit, he will meet with religious leaders in Indonesia.
5. Office of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference
After attending the event at Istiqlal Mosque, Pope Francis will visit the office of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI). There, the Pope will meet with beneficiaries of charitable organizations in Indonesia.
6. Gelora Bung Karno
The highlight of Pope Francis' visit will be when he attends a Holy Mass at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. This grand mass will be led by him.
The event is expected to be attended by 80,000 Catholics from various regions across Indonesia. The mass will begin at around 5 p.m. local time.
