Jakarta, VIVA – China's tech giant Xiaomi to release a button-less smartphone in 2025. This information comes from chunvn8888 (via SmartPrix).
According to the information, Xiaomi is currently in the development stage of a new flagship smartphone to be released next year, which will not have physical power and volume buttons.
Moreover, the Android Authority site has suggested that Xiaomi's new smartphone could use capacitive buttons or pressure-sensitive sensors instead.
Additionally, a vibration motor could record inputs and provide haptic feedback. As information, buttons on a phone are often used to restart the device when the screen is unresponsive or frozen.
So, is it necessary to replace this function with a more streamlined method? If you're a fan of Xiaomi but don't want to wait for a phone without physical buttons, don't worry.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, expected to launch in early 2025, could be a worthy alternative. This smartphone is reportedly set to rival the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra/Note, which is also slated for release in the same year.
However, the idea of a phone without physical buttons is not new. In 2018, HTC introduced the U12 Plus, which featured "Edge Sense," allowing users to control the phone by simply squeezing the sides of the device.
One year later, Vivo followed suit with the Apex 2019, which included a magnetic power connector for charging and data transfer.
Then there was the Meizu Zero, another concept smartphone that did not have physical buttons, relying instead on an in-display fingerprint sensor and wireless charging.
