Penajam Paser Utara, VIVA – Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) is contributing to the celebration of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day in the nation's new capital, Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.
The Japanese automotive manufacturer has prepared 40 units of the Toyota bZ4X electric car to support the mobility of VVIP participants attending the Independence Day ceremony.
Henry Tanoto, Vice President Director of TAM, expressed that the company is honored to have been entrusted with providing 40 units of the Toyota bZ4X for this significant celebration at IKN.
"We hope that the bZ4X electric vehicles we are providing will help support the Indonesian Government's goal of achieving pollution-free mobility," he said, as quoted by VIVA from an official statement.
Tanoto also hopes that this initiative will further promote the sustainable transformation of electric vehicle usage as a future mobility solution in Indonesia.
Toyota’s contribution of electric vehicles is part of its commitment to three sustainability programs: providing pollution-free mobility solutions at IKN, supporting Indonesia's Net Zero Emission 2060 initiative, and fulfilling the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.
Earlier, Toyota had supported official Indonesian government activities by providing the bZ4X electric vehicle as a mobility solution at international state events.
Toyota bZ4X was chosen as the official vehicle for participants of the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16, 2022.
The bZ4X was subsequently used at the 43rd ASEAN Summit, which took place in two series. The first series was held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, from May 9-11, 2023, and the second series in Jakarta from September 5-7, 2023.
The electric vehicle also supported the mobility of delegates from various countries at the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali, on October 10-11, 2023.
Most recently, from May 18-20, 2024, a total of 130 units of the Toyota bZ4X were used by ministers and delegates at the World Water Forum (WWF) 2024 in Bali.
In the same statement, Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director of TAM, expressed that the Indonesian Government's trust in Toyota is a source of pride, as it allows them to contribute to the success of various official state events.
"The selection of the Toyota bZ4X is also part of Toyota's strategy and reflects our experience in providing pollution-free mobility solutions at IKN," he concluded.
