Golden Glory, Veddriq Leonardo and Rizki Juniansyah Shine at Paris Olympics

Paris, VIVA – The Indonesian team successfully won two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics through the achievements of rock climbing athlete Veddriq Leonardo and weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah.
Veddriq secured the gold medal after defeating China's representative, Wu Pang, in the men's speed climbing final. He recorded a time of 4.75 seconds, while his opponent clocked in at 4.77 seconds.
In a separate event, Rizki Juniansyah clinched the gold medal after completing a total lift of 354 kg in the men's 73 kg weightlifting category.
Juniansyah triumphed over Thailand's representative, Weeraphon Wichuma, and Bulgaria's Andreev Bozhidar Dimitrov, who took second and third places, respectively.
With these victories, Indonesia has now secured a total of two gold medals and one bronze at the 2024 Olympics.
The bronze medal for Team Indonesia was won by women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
These two gold medals have matched a 32-year-old record. The last time Indonesia brought home two gold medals was at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
At that time, the two golds for Indonesia were won in badminton. Indonesian badminton legends Alan Budikusuma and Susi Susanti successfully secured gold at the 1992 Olympics.
