"We want to see the CCS industry become a huge business in the future. Hence, I invite foreign investors to invest their resources in Kalimantan," the minister said while opening the 2nd International and Indonesia Carbon Capture and Storage (IICCS) Forum here on Wednesday.

Indonesia has the largest petrochemical plant in North Kalimantan with a capacity of 4x16 million tons per year, he noted.

Furthermore, it will produce new energy batteries with 265 GWh of output and the polycrystalline silicon (polysilicon) industry with a production capacity of 1.4 million tons.

"We can see green products (produced) in this region in the next seven to eight years," Minister Pandjaitan said.

Indonesia will lead the green industry by improving efficiency and regulation, he affirmed.

"We were able to build a recycling industry in Morowali (Central Sulawesi) to obtain nickel ore from used batteries. Such a strategy can help Indonesia to become a leader in this industry," the minister continued.

Meanwhile, CCS development is among the imminent steps to advance the country's green industry, he emphasized.

He said that his side is striving to simplify the regulation for investors to provide them ease in supporting CCS development.

"CCS is very important to Indonesia. We will make simpler regulations," he concluded, as quoted from Antara site.
