Kalimantan – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will reportedly start working in the new capital city or IKN Nusantara by the end of July, exactly on July 28, 2024.
"On July 28, the president is scheduled to inaugurate the toll road and inspect IKN. The PUPR Ministry and the Presidential Secretariat are preparing (to fulfill) all the needs for the president to start working at IKN," Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, stated on Wednesday, as quoted from Antara site.
Hartono remarked that the Palace, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), is still preparing to complete work on the infrastructure for the President's Office at IKN, including its furniture requirements.
However, he did not revealed details on whether President Jokowi would continue to work at IKN or commute to Jakarta to run the government.
Apart from preparing the President's Office, the Presidential Secretariat is also finalizing all preparations ahead of the commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, which will be held at two locations, namely IKN and Jakarta.
Regarding the details of the series of events for the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony, Hartono stated that the government would soon hold a press conference at the end of July.
So far, the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is planned to begin with national remembrance on August 1, 2024, and then continue with other agendas, including the honors given by President Jokowi on August 15, 2024.
The president earlier said he was ready to start working from IKN as soon as possible if requisite aspects had been readied.
Jokowi conveyed this during his press statement after watching the opening match of the President's Cup at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung District, West Java, on July 19.
"As soon as everything is ready, I will start working from IKN," he concluded.
