President Jokowi Condemns to Donald Trump Shooting at Campaign Rally

Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted to being shocked and saddened by the shooting at the former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump when he was giving a speech in Pennsylvania on Saturday (July 13) local time.
"I am deeply shocked and saddened with the shooting against former oresident Donald Trumo today," the head of state wrote in X on Sunday (July 14).
Jokowi emphasized that every act of violence have no place in democracy around the world.
President Jokowi then expressed hope for the recovery of Trump, who is running for re-election in the 2024 US Presidential Election that will take place in November.
"My thoughts and prayers for his speedy and full recovery and for all those affected by the attack," the president continued.
Gunfire rang out while Trump was delivering a speech during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, forcing him to stop his speech and vacate the podium with a bleeding, according to local media.
The speech Trump delivered to his supporters in Butler City on Saturday (July 13) lasted only a couple of minutes. After that, the president stopped his remarks when addressing illegal migration.
Following the incident, Trump's spokesperson, Steven Cheung, assured that the former US president "was doing well," adding that Trump was being treated at a local medical facility.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspect in the attempted assassination.
