With an investment value of Rp13.5 trillion, the plant, which stands on an area of 319,000 square meters, proves Hyundai Motor Group's commitment to developing the EV ecosystem in Indonesia while creating jobs for local communities.

"We can win the competition with other countries because we have mines such as nickel, bauxite, copper, smelters, then EV batteries and car factories that are integrated into the electric car ecosystem," said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during the factory inauguration.

"I appreciate Hyundai's car investment and the integrated electric battery ecosystem between Hyundai and LG," the head of state added.

This local battery cell production positions Indonesia as a major player in the regional electric car market, encourages technological innovation and strengthens the electric car ecosystem in Indonesia.

"This collaboration reaffirms that by working together, Hyundai and Indonesia can shape the future of the EV ecosystem, not only in Asia but also around the world," said Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group, Euisun Chung on the same occasion.

Hyundai Motor Group is committed to achieving the full potential of the EV production chain by utilizing battery cells produced locally by HLI Green Power.

These battery cells will be assembled into battery packs by Hyundai Energy Indonesia and used in Hyundai Kona electric vehicles made in Indonesia.
