In his speech, Chung mentioned that Indonesia with the largest automotive market share in Southeast Asia and its abundant mineral resources has great potential to become an electric vehicle production hub.

"Earlier this year, the International Energy Agency predicted that more than half of global car sales will shift to electric vehicles by 2035. Today, Indonesia is at the center of that future more than ever before," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 3).

Chung also highlighted that Indonesia's mineral resources, such as iron and nickel, are crucial components for the battery industry, which will power millions of electric vehicles in the future.

"President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has set an ambitious target to produce 600,000 electric vehicles domestically by 2030. This is a very logical step given Indonesia's market potential with 700 million potential customers in Southeast Asia," he stated.

Chung added that Indonesia's decision to choose electric vehicle as the main mode of transportation in its new capital, Nusantara, demonstrates the country's innovative leadership in Southeast Asia and the world.

At the end of his speech, Chung expressed his readiness to deepen partnerships with Indonesia, exploring new innovations in mobility from hydrogen solutions to future air mobility.

"We see Indonesia as an inevitable partner in realizing future values," he concluded.
