Minister: Not Only Indonesia, Ransomware also Threatens Worldwide

Jakarta – Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi stated that ransomware cyberattacks threaten not only Indonesia but all countries worldwide.
"Based on the ransomware data for each country from 2022-2023, we can see that ransomware attacks have affected the entire world," said Minister Setiadi on Thursday (June 27).
Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the United States (US) has received the most ransomware cyberattacks.
According to Minister Setiadi, Indonesia has only been impacted by approximately 0.67 percent of ransomware attacks.
"The highest number of attacks were in the US at 40.43 percent, Canada at 6.75 percent, the UK at 6.44 percent, Germany at 4.29 percent, and France at 3.8 percent. Indonesia was impacted by around 0.67 percent of ransomware attacks," he explained.
Earlier, the Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Hinsa Siburian, stated that the National Data Center (PDN) server had been hit by the latest ransomware cyberattack. This caused disruptions to the PDN in recent days.
"The data center incident is currently a cyberattack in the form of ransomware called brain cipher ransomware. This ransomware is a new development of lock bit 3.0 ransomware," said Siburian at the Communication Ministry office on last Monday.
He mentioned that the PDN server affected by the ransomware is located in Surabaya, "The data center experiencing this incident is the temporary data center in Surabaya,"
